Classroom Casualty | Health & Fitness MOT | Sports Hall Science
Do you want a fantastic day of activities for a Science or Health Day at your school? Take a look at our hands on workshops that will engage all of your pupils, even the ones that don’t normally take part and help save you time and effort in organising an event!
Watch the video below to see a selection of activities from the workshops and feedback from fellow teachers.
Classroom Casualty
What’s happened to Stan?! Could it be a drug overdose? A stabbing? An allergic reaction? A heart attack? Who knows? It’s up to your pupils to find out. They have to examine Stan the Patient Simulator, check his medical records and compare the evidence to find out what is wrong with him.
This workshop is a great way to show pupils how drugs work on the body and how organ systems work together to keep the body alive. Each pupil will have to opportunity to interact with Stan to examine his Physiology and gather evidence about his scenario. In teams the pupils must then decide on what has happened to Stan and how we should try and save his life!
| Workshop | Curriculum | Duration | Student Numbers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classroom Casualty | Science, Human Biology, Applied Science, Medical Science. | Typically 50 – 60 minutes. Repeated throughout the day. | Min 20 / Max 40 per workshop run |
Health & Fitness MOT
Amaze and engage all of your students, even those that are the most resistant in class, with hands on activities that support the many science curriculums at all key stages & levels.
The Health MOT is a great way to bring biology to life. By using our specialist equipment, students will be able to record & monitor their own physiology, including their lung sizes and efficiency, the angle of their heart in their chest, examine X-rays, measure blood pressures and video the inside of their ears! They can also see what they will look like when they are 72 and then see the effects of smoking, obesity and sunlight exposure. The most popular activity is testing each other strength and seeing who can jump the highest on our special jump mat.

Health & Fitness MOT + STAN
You can also run the H&F MOT activities and have a very special guest… Stan the Patient Simulator. This will allow your pupils to interact with the latest technology in medical training, giving them an insight into how medical personnel now train. They can also see how Stan reacts to drugs and diseases, helping them understand how their body works.
Sports Hall Science
Cross curricular activities with biology, physics and maths!
How fast can I throw a ball? How quickly can I sprint over 10m? How fast do electrical signals travel along my nerves? These are a few of the questions your students will be able to answer at the end of the Sports Hall Science workshop by using our specialist equipment. Students will initially collect data that can be used to calculate speed, using the speed = distance/time formula. Following this they will then see if they are able to improve their reaction times with practice as well as other weird and amazing tricks we can play on our bodies!
