Whether you teach the Society, Health & Development Diploma, Public Services Diploma or Health & Social Care, finding opportunities for your pupils to experience working in the health sector can be impossible. By using the workshops below, we bring these sectors into the classroom, giving your pupils unique and exciting opportunities to experience the equipment and skills used in the health sector. Careers in Health
The Careers in Health workshop supports the QCA WRL framework elements and inspires your students to think about their career aspirations! It is also suitable for the many health curriculums currently taught.
The workshop brings the health sector to your classroom, so students (and teachers!) will be able to try their hand at some of the skills used in this sector and gain a valuable insight into the many career paths available. Activities include how to take a set of nursing observations, how to take blood from our injection simulator and how to move a patient using a hoist.

Classroom Casualty
What’s happened to Stan?! Could it be a drug overdose? A stabbing? An allergic reaction? A heart attack? Who knows? It’s up to your pupils to find out. They have to examine Stan the Patient Simulator, check his medical records and compare the evidence to find out what is wrong with him.
This workshop is a great way to show pupils how drugs work on the body and how organ systems work together to keep the body alive. Each pupil will have to opportunity to interact with Stan to examine his Physiology and gather evidence about his scenario. In teams the pupils must then decide on what has happened to Stan and how we should try and save his life!

Disability Awareness
To help your pupils understand how physical and mental disabilities affect the lives of many people, our Disability Awareness workshop allows them to experience completing everyday tasks using disability aids such as wheel chairs, crutches and sticks. They will experience sensory deprivation, blindness and what it is like to be old using an ageing suit.
Diploma Package
Designed especially for the SHD diploma, our diploma package is a series of workshops including Careers in Health, Classroom Casualty, Disability Awareness and a Health Event your pupils can organise. Curriculum Info
All our workshops are mapped to the national curriculum and exam boards including Edexcel, AQA and OCR. When you book just let us know which subject and exam board you are using and we will make sure we cover all the right learning outcomes.
